PolyU start-up CCS-Tech has developed an advanced wet carbonation technology that can convert waste concrete into high-value products such as carbonated aggregates, nano-silica, micro-size aragonite, and calcite, while simultaneously sequestering a significant amount of greenhouse gas CO2.
To achieve the vision of Waste Reduction · Resources Circulation · Zero Landfill as outlined in the Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035, it is necessary to explore the feasibility of converting waste concrete, which would otherwise be sent to landfills, into various value-added products.
